The Minimal Equipment You’ll Need For Blogging On A Budget

August 5, 2016

Blogging has become quite popular over the years and there tends to be that feeling of not having enough tech or equipment to compare. Thats not the case trust me. I know what you’re thinking. ‘How can i take good photos with my blog without a top notch camera?’ Or ‘Surely i need a Macbook right? Loads of bloggers have one?’ Let’s stop right there. No, you don’t need the best high tech to be an amazing blogger. I thought i’d  create a kit list for people looking to do blogging on a budget. It’s really simple, after reading this i hope you’ll feel a little more at ease and excited to start your blogging journey.

  1. So obviously you need a camera. But.. It doesn’t have to be a DSLR or a fancy camera with a big price label. If you have a phone with a camera then really you’re good to go. Especially if you have an iPhone! If you do want to buy a camera but one that’s under £100 or even under £50 then a simple digital camera will do. Remember that you can edit photos, make them sharper, brighter etc. And no you don’t need to buy photo shop. Pic Monkey works perfectly and is now an app too. Also instagram and VCSO for great pictures.

Canon Ixus 160 - £59.99

2. A laptop is a good thing to have but if you don’t have one then don’t worry. As long as you have an Android or IPhone then you can download the WordPress app. Although some things need to be done on a computer, maybe go to your local library or use a friends laptop for those situation. I have a second hand Macbook i bought for like £200 and that really was still too expensive for me. But any laptop will do for basic blogging. Theres really no need to buy a brand new Macbook

Acer Chromebook - £169.99

3. Somewhere to take photo’s of product and yourself. No you don’t need a fancy marble worktop. Although if you love marble i have a DIY post here. As long as it’s clean and simple you’re good to go. So a white desk, or your laminate flooring or carpet. Even buy wrapping paper for a cute backdrop for your photos.  When taking a selfie, make sure your either standing in front of your wall or in a tidy room. As long as it looks professional you’re all good.8

And that’s literally it, yeah seriously! That’s all you really need to start a blog. Crazy right? Don’t ever feel like because you don’t have a big budget you won’t succeed. It’s not true at all. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and found it helpful. Please let me know in the comments!

A x

This is such a good post! It’s so important to know you can blog on a budget. I recently wrote a post about Lessons I’ve Learned in blogging and this was one of them! It’s so easy to get carried away thinking you need to spend money on equipment or layouts etc, but you don’t really.
