The Alternative Birthday Night Out

Every birthday needs to be special, doesn’t it? And while it can be fine to go out with your friends and enjoy a drink and a boogie on the dancefloor, didn’t you do that last year? I bet you did! So, why don’t you try and mix it up for the next birthday night out? You might find a whole new way of celebrating turning (ahem) or ringing in that monumental (insert decade). So here’s a way to do it without going completely over the top with your finances. And besides, if you don’t enjoy it, you’ll have another birthday next year.

The Meal

Instead of going for the safe options, like Italian or pizza (again, Italian), go a bit out of your comfort zone and try something a bit more exotic. If you’ve never experienced Japanese food, you don’t have to go eating raw fish just yet, but there are some fantastic places like Wagamama that do fantastic and nourishing broths, or if you’re a curry kind of person, go for the Chicken Katsu Curry! It’s so tasty. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, so you can have a nice intimate conversation with friends over some lovely, warming food. Once you’ve filled your boots on ramen, curry, and gyoza, it’s time for some drinks…

The Conversation

You don’t have to go dancing until 4 in the morning, but instead, you could sit down in a club and actually make the most of the table service and enjoy the space and time to chat to your friends. Clubs like Drama have VIP tables and a classy setting. But you need to get on the Drama guestlist to enjoy the perks. As a club where you can experience one of your most chilled out birthdays without having someone spill their drink on you, or getting cramped on the dancefloor, this is one place to try.

An Alternative

If the clubs aren’t your thing then why don’t you go for an all night movie marathon? Places like The Prince Charles Cinema have a wide variety of films to suit all sorts of taste. And if you get the chance to go to a sing-along, believe me, it’s really fun! No, seriously! Slacks and pyjamas are optional! They are literally marathons and will go all night until 6 in the morning, so if you think you’re hardcore clubbing until 3, you’ve got another thing coming!

The Morning After

Got a hangover? Or are you tired from the movie marathon? Then nurse your hangover with a great vegan breakfast. Amazingly, vegan breakfasts are wonderfully tasty and have the benefit of being low in fat, so gather your friends for brunch and start feeling good again. Your birthday doesn’t have to be the all-nighter that you used to do, but if you’re looking for something a bit different, you’ve got to try these out for size. Birthdays don’t have to be the club and drink treadmill, but you get one every year, so make it something different!

A x
