Skin Care Lessons Every Gal Should Learn In Her Twenties

They say that your twenties are for having fun and learning about yourself right?, but they’re also about learning to take care of your skin. Did you know that your skin can start ageing as early as your mid-twenties? Yeah, i suddenly feel so much older now. That means that if you want to ensure that you stay looking youthful for as long as possible, you need to take extra care of your skin.

A lot of women in their twenties neglect their skin, I’m so guilty of it. I’m terrible at times in fact. Reality is that this is a mistake that you don’t really want to be making. There are some skin care lessons that every woman in her twenties to learn, to put her in good stead for the future. Below is a guide to the skin care lessons that every woman should learn in her twenties so that as she ages she can keep her skin healthy and happy (and youthful, of course).

Cleansing is worthwhile

Yeah, after a hectic day at work it is so tempting to skip cleansing your skin and removing your makeup before bed, but it’s not worth it, i always have terrible skin the next day. This is because throughout the day, dirt and oil become trapped on your face under your makeup, if this isn’t removed at the end of the day, it can lead to your skin becoming damaged and create those awful blemishes we all hate. The free radicals in dirt and oil cause the skin to be damaged ever so slightly at a cellular level, making the skin more prone to premature ageing. So unless you want to age earlier than necessary, it’s crucial to cleanse your skin every single night. A word to the wise, don’t use makeup wipes as they push dirt and oil around your face but don’t actually remove it. I know it’s tempting. Instead, use cotton pads and a gentle facial cleanser.

Exfoliating will keep you looking young

Exfoliating is another crucial part of looking after your skin that you don’t want to skip. When you exfoliate your skin, you remove dead and dry skin cells revealing the healthier skin underneath. In your twenties, you want to exfoliate your skin twice a week using a gentle exfoliator. In your thirties, you want to up it to three times a week, and then in your forties, fifties, and later life, you should exfoliate around four times a week. Make exfoliating part of your skin care routine, and your skin will thank you for it.

It’s worth investing in your skin

Believe it or not, it really is worth investing in your skin. What this means is being willing to buy good quality, natural skin care products. A lot of women buy the cheapest products that they can find, Me too! But it’s important to invest in your skin. If you want skin that is healthy and happy for many years to come, good quality skin care is a must, regardless of the price tag that comes with it.

As well as being willing to buy and use good quality products, it’s also important to be willing to pay to have professional skin treatments too. By booking yourself into a specialist facility like the Belgravia Clinic, for instance, for a facial or microdermabrasion treatment, you are giving your skin the extra care it needs. Honestly, invest in your skin, and your future self will thank you for it.

Eating your greens is a must

For skin that stays looking healthy and youthful, it’s crucial that you eat plenty of healthy food. Green foods like spinach, avocado, peas, and kale are incredibly good for skin as they’re packed full of vitamins and nutrients, so make sure to eat plenty of these. I personally find it so incredibly hard so i put kale in smoothies and have avocado with salmon. Mix it up a little. Studies have shown that women who eat a clean diet high in fruits and vegetables tend to age more slowly than women who eat lots of sugar and junk food. I really need to up my game and cut out the burgers, as hard as it is!

There you have it girls, the skin care lessons every gal should learn in her twenties. Enjoy!
