Lets about the YVES SAINT LAURENT Touche Eclat Primer

gold-foil-blog-header

Hey honey,

Todays blog post is a little talk on a recent fave of mine, the YSL touche éclat blur primer. This isn’t actually a recent purchase of mine, i’ve had it for a long time but it stayed in my drawer unused because i was simply reaching for other primers first. I’m crazy, i know. I will admit my first initial thought of this when i bought it was that it was good but not great. I didn’t give enough time to grow on it, i liked it but i preferred my other ones maybe a little better. I tend to like hydrating more moisturiser kind primers than these velvety ones. To me it feels like the benefit professional primer. You know, that texture? It fills in lines and covers the skin whereas i usually use ones which are more targeted for adding moisture simply because i have dry skin.

Although when i came back to this primer i liked it more the second time round. I’m sure i wrote a post on this before but i can’t find it, maybe i’m going crazy.Heck let’s give a more up to date review anyway. It has like gold flecks in it which is pretty darn awesome. Basically i bought this primer because it was pretty, not because i needed it but because it looks gorgeous and it had gold in it. Yes i’m pretty much like that. Hence i’m poor and have way too much makeup. The struggles.

I apply with a foundation brush because me being the oddity i am, absolutely hate the feeling on my fingers, bleeehh. But hey i’m an aspie so that justifies my strange ways. slightly.
It applies great both ways though, just roll with what you prefer best.

Like i’ve already said its texture is like a velvet touch to the skin, it blurs out pores and lines and gives a great base for your makeup. The gold doesn’t actually come up on your skin which is good, i was scared when i first used it i would look like gold tinsel. Although i reckon i’d rock that look!;)

Don’t be put off by me saying i wasn’t using it because i have dry skin blah blah blah. It doesn’t make your skin dryer or give a flaky foundation application. I just prefer hydrating ones usually like the smash box hydrating primer, know what i mean? It doesn’t make my makeup patchy or dry my skin out. It’s the initial though of, will it work on me? We’ve all had that thought when buying makeup though right?

This primer is a little pricey, £29.50. Some may say thats cheap though. We are all different and we all have different budgets. For me this is quite expensive. Lord why do i have to be addicted to makeup?! ITS SUCH AN EXPENSIVE HABIT, FREE ME, FREEEE MEEE!! Seriously though, imagine how much money you’d have if you didn’t buy makeup. Let’s just take a moment to let that sink in..

I too have dry skin. What are your recommendations for that? I don’t particularly like the Benefit Porefessional or Smashbox Photofinish, I just feel like it doesn’t hold my makeup well. I haven’t tried other variations of Smashbox though…

The gold flakes though! So pretty I wouldn’t want to wear it! Do you think it’ll be good on oily skin?

I have dry skin as well so finding a good primer has been a struggle. Have you tried the Estee Lauder illuminating primer? I got a little sample of it with a purchase and I really liked it. Mac prep + prime has been my go to though, for years:)

Great post! I’m not a makeup person, but I have to use it for dance and YSL usually has pretty stellar products. Also, thank you for subscribing. 🙂

Love the look of the primer! Gold dust all over! But I too like something hydrating….kinda like makeup with skincare benefits 🙂
