Today I’m writing about everything you need to make your blog successful.
Disclaimer: this isn’t a rule book or saying you need to go out and buy lots of things, but what I personally use to make my blog looks it’s best.
Okay so firstly anyone can create a blog, it’s not as confusing as it looks. Once your site is set up you’re ready to go. Viewers will be more attracted to your blog if it looks smart, the posts are good and it has good photos. This doesn’t mean you have to go out and splurge on a proffesional camera. I have a DSLR and it is good I will admit but I’ve had my camera for years. Would I buy one purposely for my blog? No. Digital cameras are great, something a lot of people have somewhere in the house. You can buy some really cheap cameras these days. And of course you can use your phone for photos. If using your phone then invest in Instagram or another editing app. Instagram is my life. The editor is amazing, really does perfect the photo. If you don’t want to actually post the photo to your feed then turn the Internet off when posting and it will fail but still save to your gallery. Editing photos is helpful on any camera you use. Cropping, sharpening, changing the contrast etc. It can change a photo completely. I transfer my photos to my iPad or phone then edit them on one of my apps. It obviously takes longer than uploading straight away but the finishing touches make a big difference. Another way to perfect your photo is lighting and background. I have a ring light on my camera which was £69 but have no fear! There’s cheaper ways and remember it’s not a necessity especially during the day when your room is light. Lamps do the same job, preferably with a fluorescent light but again no big deal. Or if you have a light up mirror like the no7 one, that works great too. The torch on your iPhone might work too.
Background, can change a photo instantly. You don’t want a messy room or your mum in the background! When taking portraits stand in front of a clear wall or hang a bed sheet up for a DIY backdrop. When taking a photo of a product use a pretty cushion cover from primark, or again a white bedsheet on the floor. I use my desk a lot too. Honestly it makes a photo look proffesional and your viewers will notice that.
A notebook or calendar can come in handy, it is so much easier on yourself if you have a schedule. Knowing what you’re going to post will help you so much. Especially if you’re new to the blogging world. Know what you’re posting about.
Social media links, getting your blog recognised is important. Sharing your website to Facebook,Twitter,Instagram or Twitter will help boost your views a great deal. Obviously you don’t have to use every single socia media platform but if you have Facebook for example then share your posts to your wall. Your friends will look and they might share it and before you know it your audience has widened.
Magazines/ books, reading articles and books will not only improve your punctuation and wording but connect you more with your blog. Reading magazines will give you an insight to the latest styles, makeup looks and gossip. Of course giving you ideas for new blog posts. Magazine articles and blog posts are very similar, understanding how to write a proffesional blog post will improve your views.
If I’m honest that’s all I can think off. Making the most of your blog is important, it’s your talent, what you love. Take pride in it like you would your makeup or hair. Hard work pays off!
