DIY Marble Desk

April 19, 2016

Hello my love!

So a while back i wanted a marble effect background for my photos. I searched everywhere for some sort of replacement. Because i wasn’t gonna go buy a kitchen worktop or a tile. Hell no, i’m not that rich.

I googled, looked on youtube everything, it was impossible. I mean there was tutorials to actually using paint to create a marble effect on a table but to be honest if i was to try that, my room would look like an explosion in a paint factory, uh no. Creativity is not my forte. I looked on eBay for a marble desk and the prices were pretty steep. i could have cried, ahhh will i ever take amazing photos like other bloggers. I then thought about buying a large marble print piece of paper or some jazz like that, again not a great idea. Was it even a valid idea?!

After looking around for weeks, i stumbled across sticky vinyl on amazon, it was called d-cfix sticky back plastic. And it was marble print! I was quite thrilled (There is other effects) When it arrived i was even more thrilled. So heres the lowdown, when it came it was in a roll like wrapping paper kind of thing. To apply you just peel back the paper off the sticky side and stick to whatever surface you want. I stuck it to the top of my desk. It took me 5 minutes. After 2 months or so it hasn’t come off, it’s easy to wipe and still looks great.

Hopefully unlike me you can cut in a straight line! That’s kinda vital, i couldn’t so i covered that edge up with a candle, i’m not a DIY goddess heh! But i thought it would be a great idea to share with you, maybe you’re in the situation i was, i don’t know. Or if you just wanted something to stick a product on to photograph but not on your desk then try buying something like a wooden pin board, voila a photo backdrop on the go!

Hope this helps!

A x

p.s: Apologies on this post being 3 hours late, i’ve had a rubbish day again being poorly and only just found the motivation!

What a great idea! =) Good job. It looks beautiful! Have you seen this tutorial, though? http://lovepaperpaint.com/2012/03/16/master-bedroom-30-paint-makeover/ (scroll way down) Not sure if it’s cheaper, and it definitely takes longer, but maybe future reference?
