Hey there my love!
Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of a blog? I mean like the actual process?? If so keep reading to find out what steps i take towards posting content on my blog.
Blogging isn’t effortless. I mean it can be but come on, let’s be realistic here.. If you want a blog that looks pretty, professional or smart then there is gonna be a certain amount of effort required. I’m sorry! How much effort is put in depends on the blogger. Please don’t get me wrong, if a blog has been published with little work put in it can still be perfect, this is just the backstage of my blog, and what i do to make it mine and visually attractive to me. I love every blog i read! They’re all perfect in their own way.
Planning – My blog takes a whole load of planning, before writing this post i had all my ideas for the content written down. I have a notebook to hand pretty much all the time. It’s where i write my blog post ideas, my schedule, to do list and anything else relevant. Most days i sit at my laptop with a notebook writing down any ideas i get, products i’d like to buy and any notes. If you’re stuck for blog post ideas then check out bloglovin’. There’s always posts about blog ideas, extremely helpful!
Taking Snaps – I pretty much always take my photos before i write up my content. I have no idea why, i guess i just prefer to have the photos for inspiration and a little help on what to write. There’s no exact way round you do it, whatever you feel most comfortable doing. In fact, in blogging all together there is no right or wrong way regarding how you write your posts and stuff. Be chill!
Photo layout/back drop – For my photos i have two main setups. Flatlay and self portrait. For flat lay i take photos on my desk. Which has a marble vinyl stuck on. I done this because i am marble obsessed and la la loved the photo’s on other blogs, instagram, we heart it and all that jazz. The sticky vinyl i nought was like £4.00 off amazon. My studio light broke and i had no effort to buy another one just quite yet, they’re way too expensive. So i have my desk right by my window and take my photos during the day. I tend to layer the photo with jewellery or desk accessories, no always thought. For self portraits i’ve recently been sitting in front of my wall which i stuck on the leftovers of the marble vinyl. I set up my tripod on self timer and pose away! Sometimes i just take a classic selfie wherever i feel like. I’m pretty chill when it comes to selfies. They say a clean background is essential but sometimes my rooms a mosh pit and it gets hard. Don’t be like me, today that room gurl!
Editing – This for me is the main part, my photos wouldn’t be complete with them finishing touches and a sprinkle of love. Just call me the photo fairy heh! Okay this can go one of two ways. Sometimes i edit my snaps on my iPhone and other times i edit them on my Macbook. So this is a two part thaaang.
IPhone editing tools – I have a few apps on my phone that i use religiously.
-Airbrush // Top app ever! Don’t go over board though, trust me i’ve been there! But honestly it’s fab for those awkward blemishes you just wanna blitz out because no amount of makeup will ever cover.
-Squareready // I use this app pretty much on every Instagram photo, saves loosing half your image because it won’t fit. Sqaureready has yo back!
-Instagram // Y’all know instagram! (I hope) If not then get this app, trust me you won’t regret it. The photo filters and moderations are pretty awesome.
-Prime // Perfect, just simply perfect. You get a few free filters and you can buy some, they’re so divine ahhhhh, cuteness overload.
-Photo Mirror // Ive not used this app much recently but i always go back to it like a lovesick puppy. It basically does what it says on the tin with a load of other snazzy effects and 3D ones. Want a twinny? Yaaaaas.
Macbook editing – When editing on my macbook i use an app called Photo scape X, It’s free and is fab. I use for all kinds of photos not just blog related ones. You can change the brightness, highlights, shadows all that photo malarky!
I also use pic monkey which is popular with a lot of bloggers. Its great for creating brushed fonts! Theres a few free filters, effects and beautifying tools otherwise the rest is part of a subscription. If you wanna know how then holllaaa at me!
-Over // Only used this app a few times but its good, it adds different fonts to your picture and you can adjust it’s transparency and shiz. Perfect for instagram quotes.
-Face tune // Very similar to Airbrush, but it has lighting adjustments and i love my photos to be bright and white ash. Theres a proper word for this but i’m no expert so white ish will do. If you know what i’m on about, please comment and enlighten me!
Then it’s down to writing my actual post, i tend to do this the day before but sometimes that plan goes right out the window, like today. I’m feeling poorly and i’ve retired to the sofa like an old lady. Glorious. But yeah, theres not too much to explain when it comes to writing, i just type away what comes to mind. I always proof read to make sure i’ve not taken the whole chatty concept to far and into a huge babbling mess.
Lots of love
