Are you making the most of your blog? A question that goes through all bloggers minds. Are we striving for a blogging sensation or typing away our lives.
The thing is with blogging, you either love it or hate it. It’s as simple as that. Some people create their blog in anticipation and within a few months are left feeling slumped.Unsure of what to post and feeling like it is a chore. The first thing that i want to say is, if you don’t enjoy blogging then don’t do it. In life you have to do what makes you happy more than anything else. Blogging isn’t for everyone just like anything else. Whether you’re a new blogger or a more experienced blogger this post is for you. enjoy x
I’m not by any means a professional blogger, makeup artist, fashionista whatever. In fact i’m relativly new to blogging really. I started Littlebeautyblogxo back in November after really wanting to for 12 months, yeah 12 months. You read right. I was so nervous and unsure if i had what it takes.
I’m not a confident person and the thought of creating a public site where people can comment and have opinions was scary. Really scary. And i’m quite ashamed at the fact it took me a whole year of wanting to start my blogging journey before i took the plunge. I can remember staring at a notebook back in January 2015 and planning what i wanted my blog to be about. I decided it had to of course be about makeup, fashion, lifestyle etc.
It wasn’t until the summer i decided on a name. I chose Littlebeautyblogxo because my last name is Little and hey it was kinda catchy. That’s one of the most important things when creating a blog. The name. You want to choose a name which suits you, is catchy and will attract readers. Honestly, be as creative and bold as you like. You rock! It’s the one thing you can’t change, well.. You can actually, cut that bit!
I started off with an Instagram page thinking yeah thats all i need. I’m not cut out for blogging, an Instagram page seems good, i’m meeting my goal in the middle. Yes i was so un inspirational, lazy, negative whatever you wanna call it. The truth is a few months down the line i wanted more. I was enjoying uploading pictures yeah, but i wanted to be more vocal. Speak my mind and talk about the random shit i love. I’m definatly no english expert, in fact i sucked at school. All hail the girl who got a F! I’m kidding don’t do that, strive for good grades, never be like me haha. But i wanted to give it a go, whats the worst that could happen right?!
So a few months after this thought (Yes i was very slow about it, it was a long process)
I decided to create my very own blog. Using WordPress made it easier than i thought. It was simple, and free! I was off, my blogging journey had begun. Little did i realise that it would mean so much to me. Each day was a learning curb, trying out new topics and new makeup looks. Realising what my readers liked and didn’t like.
In fact i’ve learnt so much about myself since i started. it’s an adventure i enjoy taking each day. I’ve surprised myself with what i am capable of. Blogging has made me realise how much i enjoy writing articles. Everyday i open my laptop and start typing away. I lose myself in writing about makeup or fashion. I then realised that i really enjoyed lifestyle writing. Talking about the everyday problems we all face. I kind of become an agony aunt! And that leads me to today, doing what i do and loving it.
It was just the other day, i thought to myself, am i making the most of my blog. And thats what leads me to this post. So i’ve come up with a few pointers i myself would like to do to help with the potential of my site.
-Be unique, don’t try to copy others. You and your creativity is what makes your blog great
-Don’t give up, it’s a slow process building an empire. Rome wasn’t built in a day
-There will be days when your blog traffic is low. It’s okay, don’t feel disheartened.
-Be consistent, Keep your readers interested. Try to post at least once a week.
-Update your site often. Updating your blog info at least once every other month is a good idea. Keep your site fresh. Choose a good layout and make it yours.
-Categorise your posts for other readers to access them easier.
-Proof read, make that punctuation girl!
-Learn new skills for your blog, for example a makeup blog. Watch tutorials, learn the new trends and keep up to date on whats hot.
-Enjoy blogging, it’s a hobby not a chore. You make the rules.
-Respond to comments, show readers that you’re grateful for their appreciation and thoughtfulness.
-Read other blogs, follow other blogs, like other blogs. You might learn a thing or two from them and it’s nice to support those who do the same for you.
-Write blogs that appeal to your readers, discovering whats popular is key. If i write a post and it gets very little views then i won’t write a post like that again. If a post i write on another day is a success and popular then i want to try and make more content similar.
Remember, when it comes to blogging you build your own empire. You have to put in what you get out. If you don’t make much effort neither will your blog. Be passionate and give it the best you’ve got! I love reading other blogs, it’s like part of my routine now. And they’re great so keep up the fab work gorgeous!
I hope this has helped you, even if it was only a little bit. I love to hear your views and feedback so don’t forget to comment!
Lots of love,
