10 signs you’re a makeup addict

Hey gorgeous!

Today i’m writing a different kind of post, one that a lot of you gals can relate too. (And all you guys who are aspiring muas) If like me you love makeup then this post is gonna be fab for you.

So theres two types of makeup users, the type who use makeup everyday or every so often for work, college, going out etc, but don’t obsess over new ranges by mac or limited edition palettes. Or finding that perfect shade of lipstick. Basically they love makeup but it’s not their career, or passion. And thats in no way a bad thing. A lot of my friends are like this. My best friend has used makeup since school, she won’t go anywhere without her eyebrows on fleek and her perfectly bronzed, blushed face.

10256810_10203859683752159_3305830197864865661_nThe only time she goes out au natural is when she’s at the stables or hitting the gym. But.. Even though she’s loved makeup longer than me and i learnt how to apply mascara when i was 13 from her, she will FaceTime me before getting ready for work with random questions like, How does this highlighter work? I bought this product how do i apply it? Have you ever used this brush, how does it work? And basically i end up taking her through her makeup, on FaceTime. We laugh and joke about it because the truth is, i might know more about products, but she applies makeup so much better. She’s absolutely gorgeous.

*Best friend appreciation moment*

And that brings us to our second type of makeup user, the type who love makeup so much their like the cosmetic version of Steven Hawkins. They become amazing makeup artists, bloggers or haulers and put their great knowledge and skill to use. But how do you know if your addicted makeup? When is the right time to accept addiction. There is no meeting, where you sit in a circle of people in the same boat as you. Where you stand up and say ‘Hi my names abbey, i’m 19 and i have a makeup addiction’ And everyone looks at me and says ‘hey abbey’ all at once. Why we call it an addiction is beyond me. Addictions are bad for your health, you become hooked on something and struggle and fight to get off it. Let’s change it, from now on i’m going to say makeup passion.

So how do you know your makeup passion is getting out of control?! Here’s my top ten signs for you to laugh about, and sit there saying ‘thats so me’

-You have more than  5 foundations. Come on! You have one face!
-You have so many palettes you could stack them and make a tower that’s so high it topples over. Imagine having a dvd or cd collection stacked up, yeah like that.
-You’ve ran out of storage space after filling a drawer, makeup organiser and a box. Yeah honey, you have enough. Time to get a bigger desk.
-You get so excited when a new range or limited edition set comes out. Yeah, don’t lie! You’ve refreshed your webpage 1000 times hoping to buy this hot product before it sells out. You’ve even set an alarm.
-You have a separate drawer/box for your 20 odd lipsticks, 5 of which are pretty much the same.
-Highlighters? I got ya back. Yes you have a collection of gorgeous highlighters just because they’re pretty. #highighterheaven
-If you was to sum up the price of all your makeup together, you could pay a months worth of rent on a flat and maybe even a deposit. Let’s just take a moment to think about that.
-You have so many makeup brushes you could start your own shop. Come on girls admit it, we have so many brushes half of which we don’t use. i’m more than guilty of this one, in fact all of these i’m guilty of.
-You have makeup sitting on your desk which hasn’t even been used, it’s been there for weeks!
-You actually forget you had that piece of makeup, oh the struggles.

I hope you found this funny, relatable or just plain awesome, let me know!

A x

I admit, I read through these thinking “nope, nope, nope… these are all too extreme for me…” until I got to “-You have a separate drawer/box for your 20 odd lipsticks, 5 of which are pretty much the same.”
    20?! What’re you, some kinda minimalist?! Change 20 to 300 and 5 to 20, it’s about right. ;P

The only other one I’m really feelin’:
-If you was to sum up the price of all your makeup together, you could pay a months worth of rent on a flat and maybe even a deposit. Let’s just take a moment to think about that.

    Yeah. Yeah. =(

    I’d like to add:
-You know everything about a new product before they advertise it as brand new in your makeup newsletter…

    Hilarious post. =D Great job!
